The stamp card is in the phone — and it reminds you of the appointment

A network of 12 hair and beauty salons, 2,400 appointments a week. Each salon has its own stamp card, its SMS reminders paid by the unit, and 11% of ghost slots. Loyal clients are known only to the stylist who looks after them — when she moves to another salon, the loyalty goes with her.

The starting point

Loyalty on cardboard and reminders that cost money every week

The stamp card lives in a handbag, when it is not lost. Nobody knows how many clients are two stamps away from the free treatment. Reminders go out by SMS, two per appointment, and the operator bill climbs with activity — without pushing no-shows below 10%. And when a client walks into another salon in the network, she is a stranger.

  • ≈ 4,800 reminder SMS a week, paid by the unit
  • 11% of missed appointments despite the reminders
  • Stamp cards lost, loyalty invisible in the figures
  • No network-wide view: each salon knows its own clients, not the others'

What we put in place

One card, designed once, doing three jobs

  1. 01

The loyalty card, in the network's colours

The template is designed in Marketing: logo, colours, banner, first name and points as variables, one QR code per client. When booking online and at the till, the client is offered “Add to Apple Wallet / Google Wallet”. Within two weeks, 60% of active clients have it in their phone.

  2. 02

The reminder arrives on the lock screen

The reminder workflow keeps the confirmation email, but the day before the appointment it is the card that updates: “Tomorrow 2 pm, Rive Gauche salon, with Léa”. One notification, zero SMS. For the 40% without a card, the SMS remains — the sequence picks the channel based on the record.

  3. 03

    Points are earned by scanning

At the till, the card's QR code is scanned: the visit is marked as attended, +1 point on the card, and the CRM record logs the visit — whichever salon it is. The client sees her points change on her phone before she has even walked out.

  4. 04

The free treatment no longer has to be claimed

On the 10th point, the automation pushes “Your treatment is free” to the card and creates a coupon with an expiry date. Clients on 8 or 9 points form a dynamic segment: a Wallet Notification campaign, free of charge, reminds them they are almost there.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What about clients without a recent smartphone?

They keep SMS and email: the reminder sequence picks the channel based on what the record knows about the client. The Wallet card is added to the channels, it does not replace them by default.

Does scanning at the till need special hardware?

No: the QR code is read with the camera of a phone or a tablet, from the application. A standard till scanner works too.

Can we have one card per salon rather than one for the network?

Yes, those are different templates. But the point of this scenario is precisely the shared card: the client is recognised everywhere and points accumulate, which the stamp card did not allow.

How much do notifications on the card cost?

Nothing to send: the update goes through Apple and Google. Only the SMS sent to clients without a card are still billed in credits, at the country's rate.

What does the client see if she removes the card from her phone?

Nothing more: removing it sets her wallet consent to “withdrawn”, reminders go back to email or SMS, and her points stay in her record if she adds the card again later.
